WCRA Sunsets as PBR and Lazy E Arena Take Over Women’s and Youth Rodeo Programs

WCRA hands over the reins.

WCRA to Conclude Operations as PBR and Lazy E Arena Carry Forward Women’s and Youth Rodeo

After years of fostering innovation and opportunity in rodeo, the World Champions Rodeo Alliance (WCRA) has announced it will officially conclude its organizational operations effective August 1, 2025. While this marks the end of WCRA’s own open competition structure, the organization has confirmed that its flagship programs in women’s and youth rodeo will continue — now under new leadership.

The Professional Bull Riders (PBR) will take over all operations and promotion for the Women’s Rodeo World Championship, ensuring the continued growth and visibility of elite women’s rodeo athletes. Meanwhile, the World Champions Junior Rodeo (WCJR) will remain in trusted hands at the Lazy E Arena, which will continue producing the premier youth rodeo event.

WCRA emphasized that these transitions are designed to maintain — and expand — the opportunities it originally created for the next generation of rodeo athletes, with a special focus on accessibility, innovation, and prize-driven competition formats.

Though WCRA’s era is closing, its impact on rodeo’s landscape — from open qualifiers to groundbreaking events — will live on through these evolving partnerships and platforms.
