As the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (NFR) returns to Las Vegas this December, the much-anticipated 3rd Annual Vegas NFR Icons Tribute Reception is set to celebrate three of rodeo’s most iconic figures: Joe Beaver, Rich Skelton, and Speed Williams. This special reception will be held inside Cowboy Corral, adjacent to the Thomas & Mack Center, on Friday, Dec. 6 at 4 p.m., just before the evening’s rodeo performance. Fans and attendees will have the opportunity to pay tribute to these rodeo legends and their incredible careers.
Joe Beaver, hailing from Victoria, Texas, is a household name in rodeo, known for his unmatched achievements in tie-down roping and all-around titles. With a career that includes eight PRCA world titles, including five in tie-down roping, Beaver’s impact on the sport is immeasurable. Injuries may have sidelined him temporarily, but his lasting legacy as a competitor and commentator remains. Rich Skelton and Speed Williams, the dynamic duo of team roping, are celebrated for their incredible partnership that brought them eight consecutive World Championships between 1997 and 2004. Together, they cemented their place in rodeo history, dominating the NFR arena with their innovative style and unbeatable teamwork.
Fans attending the NFR on Dec. 6 will also get to enjoy a live performance by Old Hickory in Cowboy Corral following the reception, creating an unforgettable evening of rodeo and entertainment. On Dec. 6, Williams and Skelton will be honored during the Wrangler NFR, while Joe Beaver will take center stage the following night, Dec. 7, for his tribute. Each legend will be awarded a commemorative bronze statue, and banners celebrating their careers will be raised in the rafters of the Thomas & Mack Center.
For those looking to celebrate the legacy of these rodeo champions, the Vegas NFR Icons Tribute Reception is an event you won’t want to miss.
