Leading the All Around Rookie race is roughstock competitor, Wacey Schalla. Schalla, who recently took home the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA)  All Around Cowboy, rookie, and bull riding titles, is no stranger to prestigious all-around titles. With nearly $45,000 pocketed before Cowboy Christmas, it’s safe to say the 18-year-old Oklahoma native is adjusting to the pros well.
Also high off a big CNFR win, is Resitol Rookie Bareback Riding leader, Weston Timberman. Winning the recent Battle Born Broncs (Fallon, Nev.)
and Resistol Rookie Roundup (Fort Worth, Texas), the Clarendon College cowboy has racked up an approximate $11,000 lead over second-place rookie contender Mason Stuller.
With over $51,000 won thus far, Zachary Dallas of Las Crus, New Mexico, sits firmly in the driver’s seat of the Resistol Rookie Saddle Bronc race. Taking home the win at the 152nd Silver Spurs Rodeo (Kissimmee, Fla.), the 22-year-old has also propelled himself into the 14th position in the world standings race.
In the bull riding, the rookie race has had Cooper James’s name written all over it. With nearly $60,000 already acquired, the 18-year-old Utah cowboy currently sits in the 17th position in the world standings race. Also cracking the top 30 bubble in the world standings is steer wrestler Cole Walker, who also leads the steer wrestling rookie race.
Recently taking home the reserve champion title at the Crooked River Roundup in Prineville, Ore., header Korbin Rice takes the lead in the rookie race on the front side of the team roping. Looking at the back side of the event, Wyatt Thomas from Cedar City, Utah, leads the heeling rookie race with over $18,000 pocketed.
New Mexico cowboy Bryce Derrer has seen consistent visits to the the pay window, dating back to a few major checks at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. It has been this consistency that has put him in the lead of the tie-down roping Resistol Rookie race.
Looking towards the ladies of the WPRA, Canadian cowgirl Oceane Veilleux leads the barrel racing race. Heading into the summer run, Veilleux has pocketed over $24,000 and a big win at the Resitol Rookie Roundup back in April. In the breakaway roping, Shiloh Napp leads the race with over $14,000 won headed into the summer run.
