Keep Your Eye On The PRCA Resistol Rookie Of The Year Races

With just over a month remaining in the PRCA season, the Resistol Rookie Of The Year races have never been hotter! These PRCA rookies passed the Cowboy Christmas tests with flying colors and are well on their way to writing their names into history books. Take a look at the top rookies leading the Resistol Rookie Of The Year standings.

Leading the All Around Rookie race is roughstock competitor Wacey Schalla. Schalla, who also took home the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA)  All Around Cowboy, rookie, and bull riding titles, is no stranger to prestigious all-around titles. With an exceptional $135,210 earned thus far, it’s safe to say the 18-year-old Oklahoma native is adjusting to the pros well.

The Resistol Rookie sensation Wacey Schalla has been on a tear earning the Pendleton Whisky Let ‘er Buck Winning Ride with an 89.5-point trip on Pete Carr’s Armed Conflict at the Lea County PRCA Rodeo.

Also high off a successful summer run is Resistol Rookie Bareback Riding leader Weston Timberman. Taking home the big win in Ponoka, Alberta, at the Ponoka Stampede, the 20-year-old cowboy is currently in NFR contention, as he currently sits 11th in the world standings race.

Taking home the win at the 152nd Silver Spurs Rodeo (Kissimmee, Fla.), the 22-year-old has also propelled himself into the 15th position in the world standings race.

After an impressive clean sweep at the Lea County Xtreme Bulls, Schalla has won over $41,000 this month, securing his lead in the Resistol Rookie Of The Year bull riding race. This major win also secured him in the center of the top 15, as he currently sits in 8th place in the world standings.

In steer wrestling, Ty Bauerle currently leads the race with over $51,000 won. 18-year-old Tyler Tryan is making waves in the team roping world as the #1 rookie with over $57,000 earned to date. Fellow Texan Logan Moore leads the race in the heeling, picking up big checks at the Douglas County Fair and Rodeo and the Cache County Fair and Rodeo.

After a successful summer run, Cole Clemons currently finds himself in contention for his first NFR qualification, as well as the Resistol Rookie Of The Year tie-down roping title.

Looking towards the ladies of the WPRA, Canadian cowgirl Oceane Veilleux leads the barrel racing race.
