FORT WORTH, Texas – At the forty-ninth iteration of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Stockyards Showcase inside the iconic Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas, Jean Fernandes Pereira (Crixas, Brazil) went a perfect 2-for-2 to win the event title.

A reserve rider for the Austin Gamblers on the separate PBR Camping World Team Series, Pereira rode Pogo (JD Nix Rodeo Co.) for 83 points in Round 1.

Sitting in fourth entering the final round, the Brazilian cowboy knew he needed a solid score to rise up the standings. He rocketed out of the gate atop High Class (Flinn Cattle Co) and danced in perfect time with the powerful bovine competitor, posting a monstrous, event-high, 90-point score to take the lead.

He left Cowtown Coliseum with a crucial 58 Velocity Global points, pushing him to No. 11 in the Velocity Global standings.

A fellow member of the Austin Gamblers, Claudio Montanha Jr. (Ribeirao dos Indios, Brazil) finished second.

He placed third in both Round 1 and Round 2, covering Et Tu Brute (BMC Bucking Bulls/Jenkins Cattle Co.) for 84 points in the opening round and Magnitude (Jenkins Cattle Co.) for 85.5 points in his final out.

The Brazilian’s flawless performance netted him 44 points in the Velocity Global standings.

In third place was Marcelo Procopio Pereira (Rinopolis, Brazil), who also went a perfect 2-for-2.

Paired with Rufus (Jenkins Cattle Co.) in Round 1, the Brazilian held on for the requisite 8 for 81.5 points.

He then thundered out of the chutes atop Freight Train (Blue Ridge Bucking Bulls/M&B) for 86 points in the final round, the second-best score in the set.

The veteran returned home with 32 Velocity Global points for his efforts.

Alex Cerqueira (Iguatemi, Brazil) was the last rider to go 2-for-2, finishing fourth.

Entering the evening ranked inside the Top 20 of the elite Unleash The Beast, he began his outing by riding Nix 9501 (JD Nix Rodeo Co.) for 80.5 points in Round 1.

Next tasked with Pearl Snap (Blue Ridge/Risen Cattle Co.), the Brazilian proved why he currently sits among bull riding’s best, easily sitting atop the animal athlete for 84.5 points.

Cerqueira heads to compete in PBR Salt Lake City this weekend after garnering 27 Velocity Global points Thursday evening.

Rounding out the Top 5 was Adilson Junior (Salto de Pirapora, Brazil).

He roared out of the chutes for a round-winning 88 points aboard Natural (Blue Ridge/Risen Cattle Co) in Round 1, posting an impressive 3.0 rider over bull score.

Looking to take home the event title on Big Tasty (Jenkins Cattle Co.), the Brazilian cowboy catapulted out the gate in the final round but was dislodged after 4.74 seconds.

His 1-for-2 performance earned him 21 Velocity Global points.

Velocity Global points contribute to the Velocity Global standings and determine which new riders are added to the elite Unleash The Beast throughout the season. The Top 3 Velocity Global riders who have not already qualified are also invited to the PBR World Finals in May.

In the bull pen, Come Apart (Flinn Cattle Co.) was marked 44.5 points for his 3.52-second buck off of Thiago Salgado (Navirai, Brazil) in Round 1 to earn the Bull of the Event title.

The PBR Stockyards Showcase returns on Thursday, February 15. Action inside Cowtown Coliseum will get underway at 7:30 p.m. CT.
